Participants in the eHI LIGHT Initiative include recognized experts from the public and private sector in global healthcare and health information technology. 

Those taking part in recent eHI LIGHT Initiative summits and meetings include high-level health ministry personnel and health information technology innovators from five continents: Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe and North America. The European Union, the World Bank and the World Health Organization were also represented.   

The LIGHT Initiative is sponsored by the eHealth Initiative Foundation and has received unrestricted educational grant funds from private sector sources including Booz Allen Hamilton, Computer Sciences Corporation and IDX Systems Corporation.  The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has also provided financial support to eHealth Initiative Foundation for a report summarizing barriers to and strategies for implementing health information technology and electronic connectivity to improve health and healthcare in a number of nations across the globe.
